About Us
Hi! I'm Amy, the founder of Wiggle & Woof!
Ironically, I was terrified of dogs for the first 20 years of my life. My fear was so intense that I'd black out at the sight of a dog - as you can probably imagine, this restricted my life in many ways, where ordinary summer picnics or park walks were completely impossible for me! Even phobia control classes struggled to make a dent in my anxiety!
During lockdown, I decided to tackle my fear and get a puppy. Within a week, my life had transformed. Poppy, my cavapoo, changed everything for me and my fear disappeared entirely. Put simply, I was fast-tracked into becoming a crazy dog person!
When walking Poppy, I've always been highly aware of the fact that people could be in fear of her, no matter how harmless she feels to me. At the height of my fear, the size or temperament of the dog didn't matter - all I could think about was an escape route and deciding whether to trust the dog's owner to be responsible and keep their dog securely away from me.
A key difference between a fear-induced meltdown and being able to go about my day normally was being able to see if the dog in question was securely on a lead or not. Bright colours were a game changer in this sense, where, when compared to a standard black extendable lead, I could quickly distinguish whether the dog was securely with their owner and therefore couldn't get to me.
This is the reason I created Wiggle & Woof. When looking at products to buy for Poppy, there was a lack of colour on the market that would calm the minds of those like my former self. I began working on designs and concepts for bold products that would ease the mind of those in fear and this snowballed into what the brand has become!
The sole purpose behind this brand is to help those suffering from cynophobia and to educate dog owners about the simple steps they can take to make life a little easier for those in fear.
Running a small business can be disheartening at times, but seeing your pups in our designs makes all the quieter days worth it!
I'm always available via Instagram (@wiggleandwoofuk) or email (hello@wiggleandwoof.co.uk) if you need any advice about cynophobia or if you need any help with any of our products!
